RAN-D GALLERY OPENING 4-2-04

Well, Friday April second was Ran-D's gallery show of his new paintings in Easton, Pennsylvania. Jen and I left Long Island with me driving what would be about a 3 hour trip. Jen was exausted because she had to sleep next to me with my cold which was making me snore and keep her up so she hardly got a wink. The only way she agreed to go was if I promised to drive so she could get some shut eye while riding shotgun.

When we got on the road, after about the third stop sign I almost overran, I realized that the combination of cough suppressants, robotussin, and zinc drops had verily effected my driving, it was almost like what it must feel like to drive drunk (the whole, don't use this and operate machinery labels are no joke). I had to pull over and "let" Jen drive, which, you can imagine, made it a wonderfull three hours.

We stopped in at my parents house, on the way and stayed there for a few hours so Jen could cop a nap.
My parents, who are both artists themselves also were going to Ran-D's opening, but later on, so when Jen woke up we took the last leg of the trip and arrived to a packed house.

The reception was great. Lots of old aquaintences and Ran-D's family members, and of course many art patrons I've never met. I went for wine, and after a few sips, I realized that it might clash with the Claritin and my head was so clouded with cold that I didn't need booze to feel drunk. The show was beautifully laid out, and was covered by the local press. Ran-D sold a few pieces, being that it was a private showing in an intimate environment, that's pretty impressive for his first foray into painting. (Ran-D is more known for his rock and metal sculpture work).

A few days before his show his girlfriend went back to Copenhagen, Denmark. In May Ran-D will be jetting out there for a few months to live the expatriot life and have a few shows overthere, then back to the US where he's already got shows lined up.

Congrats man, keep it up. I'll miss having you around, but the party goes on.

Just another day in the life of an Art Juggernaut.
