OBAMA COMING TO NYC 9-9-04

I don't know if you watched the Democratic National Convention a few months ago, but for some odd reason glued to the set like a crackhead waiting for the candidates to tell me where I could score my next fix.

I watched both the Democratic convention in July, and the Republican Convention this month. Of both conventions I was waiting for something, I don't know what. I was waiting to be moved I guess. Waiting for a speaker to really say something I could identify with, something that effected me.

Of both conventions, only two people really spoke to me, really said things in their speeches that made me feel inspired, made me believe them, made me trust them, made me want to get up and vote, made me think, damn, if they were running for President I would vote for them!

The first was President Clinton. His speech was great, but then he's always been a great speaker. They say when he enters a room his personality just draws people to him. His charisma when he speaks just forces people to listen. Hence why he was a two term President.

The other though, Kerry's Keynote speaker Barack Obama blew me away. A young guy I had never even heard of who's running to be a senator in Illinois got to the podium and was just phenomenal. I couldn't believe how positive and captivating this guy's speech was. It blew me away. I watched him speak and listened to his words, and the only thing I could think was "I wish I could vote for this guy for President!" He made headlines and was the big talk of all the newspapers the following day.

He is still pretty young, so I figure after maybe 8-12 years in the Senate, he will have enough experience to make a run for the biggest office in the land. Mark my words, watching this guy speak I said to myself, "Self, you are watching history in the making, this is going to be this country's first black President!"

So, as I have heard of Clinton, I want to see if when this guy enters a room you can truly feel the tone of the room change, see if the charisma this cat carries can make him rise to greatness.

Well, you too can get this experience on MONDAY!
