June 13, 2003
Cojo, multi-media master and self-proclaimed "Art Juggernaut," has joined forces with Respect Management and its Managing Director, Kevon Glickman, to forge what will become a groundbreaking relationship in the urban art world. When looking to find the appropriate partner to help create an outlet for his vast artistic skills, Cojo was sold on Kevon's proven track record, industry savvy and business connections.
Respect Management is the latest venture in Mr. Glickman's long career in the domain of artist management. Kevon, currently the Managing Director of Respect Management and a Senior Attorney, Entertainment Chair, with the Jacobs Law Group, PC, has made a name for himself over the course of 15 years in the entertainment industry; notably due to his accomplishments in the fields of art and music.
He was Sr. VP/General Counsel of Ruffhouse Records, a joint venture with Sony Entertainment, which was responsible for the launch of
such artists as Cypress Hill, The Fugees, Wyclef Jean and Lauryn Hill. Following his stint with Ruffhouse, Kevon served as President and Chief Operating Officer of Ruffnation Records, a joint venture with Warner
Bros. Records; RuffLife Records, an independent label distributed by ADA; Ruffsong Music Publishing and Ruffnation Films which, this year, premiered "Snipes" starring Nelly.
Prior to becoming a music lawyer and manager Kevon was a painter and art dealer who was amongst the first to sell works by Keith Haring, Jean-Michel Basquiat and Robert Mapplethorpe.
Cojo, "Art Juggernaut," is an up-and-coming artistic talent with an
amazing breadth of creative vision and skill. His work encompasses an enormous spread of media including: print, television, fashion, advertising, the web and the traditional canvas. In other words, Cojo is a contemporary Renaissance Man, without all the complicated science and inventions. Cojo counts among his clients the magazines: Maxim, Vibe, YRB NYC, The Source, XXL, Complex, Blackbook and King. Other clients include: FUBU, Nike, Vans, Ecko, Loop, Parcel, Target, The Warped Tour, Sony Music, J Records, MTV, Nickelodeon and HBO.
