One of the projects that's been keeping me busy for a majority of the past month has been the one I'm about to hip you to.
Anyone who's been reading my updates/memoirs for a while knows that I like to do at least one project for a charity or a good cause every year. Last year it was the painting series for LIFEbeat the music industry fights AIDS, where I did a painting with the help of Ashanti, Lil' Kim, Mario, Jay-Z, Cam'ron, Redman, Usher, and Ja Rule. Well, this year, I'm working on something new. I'm doing character designs for a set of 6, half hour teaching CD ROM games about AIDS awareness. Don't think it's all stuffy, cause it isn't. It's "hip-hop cool" with some comedy tossed in. There are skits on the CD ROM about safe sex produced by Keenan Ivory Wayans ("IN LIVING COLOR," "I'm gonna get you sucka," "SCARY MOVIE."). There are some comedy bits donated by comedian Robert Townsend ("THE HOLLYWOOD SHUFFLE,""THE METEOR MAN," The WB's "The Parent 'Hood," HBO comedy special, "Robert Townsend and his Partners In Crime." among others.
These CD ROMS are designed for hispanic and black students in inner-city schools around the state of California. They teach the students about AIDS, and how to prevent contracting it, as well as how to practice safe sex and avoid situations where the students can put themselves at greater risk. I got some of the test animations back and I was really happy and proud, cause kids are really going to look at this, and play the games and learn something. The characters are teenagers, and, they are voiced by actual students who were chosen from some of the schools that these CD's are being crafted for. The student playing the games will learn as the characters do, so they aren't preached to or talked down to. I really feel that something good is going to come out of this, like I'm making a difference.

Do you know of any rap artists or hip-hop artists that would want to donate
music, instrumentals, loops, or samples to the aids awareness game? Could
you send the word out? The game is geared towards mostly african american and Latino kids in south central and other PL reach out areas who are undereducated in this area.
We want enhance the cd-rom with great style, culture, and music that these¬Ýkids relate to in order to help bring this message home. It's a great cause and would make for a soul fulfilling contribution as an artist! Credit and thanks will be made on the CD-ROM for any and all generosity made.
